Employers will welcome additional information to help them support employees

The free, updated guidance, ‘Time off work for bereavement’, covers:

  • leave and pay on death
  • death of an employee’s child
  • a stillbirth or miscarriage of an employee or their partner
  • parental bereavement leave and pay
  • what to do, and how to support an employee, following a death
  • a death at work.

It includes details of the maternity and paternity leave rules for parents who have lost a pregnancy after 24 weeks, and the 2020 parental bereavement leave rules. There is also an example bereavement policy.

Download the guidance and view the example bereavement policy on the ACAS website.
