If you have a company (including PSC) with 31 March year end, then a reminder that you need to send the abbreviated accounts to Companies House to reach them by 31 December, otherwise there are fixed penalties which are notoriously difficult to mitigate.  If its your first year in business, then the filing date may be before 31 December – check the cover of your accounts.

The abbreviated accounts are in your year end pack from us, and they need to be signed once and sent on.

You can check the filing status for your company online at:

http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/toolsToHelp/findCompanyInfo.shtml

or by logging in via Companies House Web Filing (with the same login details as for annual returns).

Although there is an electronic filing option available for abbreviated accounts, its currently rather clunky and underdeveloped, hence we strongly advise use of the paper route for ease.

We also recommend that the accounts are sent either by recorded delivery, or that you login to check their receipt a few days after you post them.

Its a good idea to send them off now rather than delay and risk oversight or Christmas post.

Finally, a reminder that the “print, sign and sent” isn’t something we do for you, we ask clients to do it at the same time as sending signed accounts back to us.
